WHO Advisories

Update:  On June 11, 2009 the World Health Organization (WHO) raised the threat level on Influenza A (H1N1) to Phase 6. At this time, WHO considers the overall severity of the influenza pandemic to be moderate. This assessment is based on scientific evidence available to WHO, as well as input from its Member States on the pandemic's impact on their health systems, and their social and economic functioning.

CDC: DSAT Guidance on CDC Import Permits for Swine-Originated Flu
A CDC Import Permit is required for the importation into the United States of virus isolates and/or clinical samples associated with the swine-origin, novel influenza A (H1N1) virus outbreak. A CDC Import Permit is not required for the (1) transfer of those virus isolates and/or clinical samples associated with the swine-origin, novel influenza A (H1N1) virus outbreak, which originate in the United States; or (2) the further distribution of virus isolates and/or clinical samples associated with the swine-origin, novel influenza A (H1N1) virus outbreak that originally had been imported into the United States under CDC permit.
