Message from Former Chair, Janet Hindler

Division C News | December 12, 2001

As past Chair of Division C, my current charge is to improve communication with Clinical Microbiologists through our Division C website.  We have solicited assistance and received responses from many of you who have offered to help with this task.  In the near future we will add case studies, a review of “hot papers,” guidelines on competency testing and much more.

Our first completed project is being added to the site today in the form of a “BT Newslink”.  The intent of the “BT Newslink” is to provide a one-stop source for current BT information that is likely to be of particular interest to clinical microbiologists.    I want to thank all of you who are helping with the website, particularly, Division C volunteer Danny Wiedbrauk and ASM staff liaison Jennifer Mercurio.

In addition to the website expansion, a group of Division C members is working on several projects that we anticipate will lead to assisting clinical microbiologists in meeting some of the current technical, administrative, and regulatory challenges that we face.  The website will be themechanism through which we will communicate information to you as it becomes available.  We welcome any suggestions you may have and could always use more “volunteers”.  Division C belongs to all of its members and it can only get better with additional contributions from the membership.

I intend to keep you updated on our progress with the website and other activities of Division C through this Newsletter.  On behalf of Paul Schreckenberger current chair of Division C , Paul Bourbeau, chair-elect of Division C, and myself, thank you for visiting the Division  website and your continuing support of ASM.
