These programs support ASM members who are scientifically recognized in their areas to teach hands-on, highly interactive, short courses at an institution of higher learning in resource-limited countries.  The deadlines for applications are April 15 and October 15, annually.
The Programs The American Society for Microbiology (ASM) International Professorship Programs are intended to provide microbiological expertise and resources to faculty and students throughout the world, and to facilitate international collaborations between institutions.
The ASM International Professorships for Africa, Asia and Latin America and the Caribbean These programs provide funding to ASM members, who are scientifically recognized in his/her area, to teach a hands-on, highly interactive short courses on single topics in the microbiological sciences at institutions of higher learning in Africa, Asia and Latin America and the Caribbean.Â
ASM-IUSSTF Indo-US Professorship in Microbiology This Professorship, sponsored by the Indo-US Science & Technology Forum, encourages partnerships between the United States and India. Open to ASM members and non-members alike, the program seeks to broaden collaboration between India and the US on issues of global concern.
ASM-PAHO Infectious Diseases Epidemiology and Surveillance Professorship
Funded by the Pan American Health Organization and ASM, these Professorships provide funding support to an ASM member from the US to teach a hands-on short course in the area of antimicrobial resistance at an institution of higher learning in Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, or Peru.Â
