SEEKING A CLINICAL MICROBIOLOGIST TO LEAD MASSACHUSETTS' LABORATORY RESPONSE NETWORK

If you have recent experience in a clinical microbiology laboratory and are looking for a change of pace, this job may be just for you. It requires intimate knowledge of how clinical microbiologists identify microorganisms so that you can guide them on the procedures to follow when they suspect, or cannot rule out, a pathogen that could be deployed in a bioterrorism event or might emerge naturally and spread rapidly if not detected early. You will be a valuable resource in protecting the people who reside in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and beyond.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

Plan, develop and administer training for clinical microbiologists, first responders and public health professionals.
Perform diagnostic laboratory procedures for detection, isolation and identification of bioterrorism agents
Work closely with FBI, law enforcement, Hazmat, fire and other officials to support drills and prepare for actual events.

QUALIFICATIONS:

At least five years' experience in a clinical microbiology laboratory with two years at an advanced level
Medical technology training preferred but scientific degrees of other types will be considered
Willing to work with infectious agents, receive vaccinations, subject to Select Agent security clearance
Massachusetts State Laboratory Institute is located in the Boston area
