The Illinois Society for Microbiology was established in 1935 to promote scientific knowledge in microbiology and to support the work of the American Society for Microbiology. It is a nonprofit, professional membership association. We are the proud sponsors of the Pasteur Award, our annual award to recognize individuals who have made significant and outstanding contributions in the field of microbiology. We welcome anyone interested in our topics or activities to attend our local meetings. We welcome those with a professional interest in microbiology to become a member.
