Eighty-four persons registered for the Rio Grande Branch ASM Annual Meeting, held at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) on January 26 & 27, 2007. Of that group, siz attended the ASM Branch business meeting on January 27, 2007. |

Faculty members who were judging student presentations decided to award five cash prizes of $100 each as follows:
- two Undergraduate Student Posters
- one Undergraduate Student Oral Presenterone Graduate Student Poster
- one Graduate Student Oral Presenter
All of the winners also got free ASM student memberships. |

Dr. Steve Aley, President-Elect, announced that he is stepping into the position of President of the Branch, replacing Dr. David Faguy. This change was effective immediately. |

The Treasurer reported that at the end of 2006, the Branch held a balance of $3580.05. After expenses for the 2007 annual meeting were paid, the balance is $2650.05. |

We discussed opportunities for spending grant funding for the upcoming year, including science fair awards, K-12 Outreach programs, student member recruitment, and full member recruitment. |

We unanimously agreed that we will implement a 3-year $30 rolling membership for full ASM members, so that full members need not attend every annual meeting in order to retain their Branch membership. |

It was decided tha the annual meeting will be held in Albuquerque at the University of New Mexico. We discussed moving the meeting back several weeks to the late-February / mid-March timeframe, trying to work around grant deadlines, Christmas vacation, and school spring breaks. |
