The San Diego Microbiology Group

SDMG meets at the Scripps Institute of Oceanography in La Jolla, north of San Diego, on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. At 6 PM they meet in the historic Martin-Johnson House (T-29), overlooking the beautiful La Jolla coastline, for food and drinks followed by two seminars in nearby 4500 Hubbs Hall. Be sure to park North of Hubbs Hall to avoid getting a ticket.

The focus of this group is environmental microbiology and basic research. Recents topics include:

• Detection of pathogenic phytoplasma in deciduous fruit tree budwood using PCR methods.
• How bacteria adapt to high-pressure, deep sea environments.
