The mission of the South Carolina Branch of the American Society for Microbiology is to serve as networking venues for like-minded scientists within a limited geographic area in order to facilitate discussions, foster collaborations and help students acquaint themselves with the mechanics of a scientific meeting.
After a successful joint annual meeting with the South Carolina Academy of Science (SCAS) on March 20, 2008, we would like to host a Fall Branch Meeting on November 21, 2008. The focus of this meeting will be to showcase our students’ work.
The two featured faculty speakers for this Fall Branch Meeting are Dr. Christopher (Kitt) Bagwell, Environmental Sciences & Biotechnology, SRNL and Dr. Lisa L. Steed, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, MUSC.
The title of Dr. Bagwell’s presentation is “Life in Nuclear Waste: Ecological Genomics of Kineococcus radiotolerans”.
The title of Dr. Steed”s presentation is “Organism Burden of Touch Surfaces within ICU Rooms”.
We hope that you and your lab will recognize this as an opportunity to meet, network and support your colleagues within the state and encourage your students (undergraduate and graduate) and post-docs to submit abstracts for oral presentations.
Registration and abstract submission deadline is Friday, November 14, 2008. Click the following link to download a PDF copy of the Meeting Announcement.
Regards,
