- Call for nominations for Chair-Elect of Division B, 2002-2003
We are now soliciting volunteers and nominations for individuals interested in serving as Chair-elect for 2002-2003; this individual will become Chair of Division B the subsequent year. If you want to volunteer or want to nominate someone else (who will agree to run if selected), please notify Steve Calderwood at scalderwood@partners.org. The Selection Committee will finalize the nominations at the ASM meeting in May 2001, and the election will be held next fall. Hope to see you all in Orlando!

The scientific symposia and poster sessions sponsored by Divisions B and D for the Annual Meeting of the ASM, May 20-24th, 2001, in Orlando, FL are set; a brief summary of these events is listed below
Division B and D poster sessions are scheduled for Monday, May 21st AM through Thursday, May 24th AM.

meeting of the ASM, May 20-24th, 2001 in Orlando, Florida:
Monday May 21st, 8-10:30 AM
- Modulation of apoptosis by bacterial pathogens (Brett Finlay will give the Division B lecture in this session)
Monday May 21st, 12:00-1:00 PM
- Combined Division B/D business meeting (lunch provided). Please make sure to invite all recipients of student travel awards from your labs – they will be acknowledged at the business meeting

- Divisional Group II Symposium: New strategies for exploiting host-pathogen interactions in the design of novel antimicrobial agents
- Infections, epidemiology, pathogenesis and vaccine candidates of extraintestinal pathogenic E. coli

- Divisions B/D will sponsor seven scientific symposia at the 2002 Annual Meeting and we would like to solicit suggestions for these sessions from membership of the two divisions. Each session should have approximately five speakers around a common theme of interest to divisional members. If you would like to organize such a session, please send a description of the proposed session in as much detail as possible to both Steve Calderwood (scalderwood@partners.org) and Dara Frank (frankd@post.its.mcw.edu), including a potential title for the symposium, and speakers, affiliations, and titles for the individual talks. Please note that selection of symposia for inclusion in the 2002 program is discussed at the May 2001 meeting by the divisional officers, and recommendations forwarded to the ASM General Meeting Planning Committee, who provide final approval in the fall.
