Dear Division F Members,
As Division F Chair, the last few months have been an enlightening and interesting time for me. The timing of several international meetings in May of 2003 made the development of our ASM 2003 Division F symposium program somewhat more difficult. However, with a great deal of valuable input from our members, we have assembled a great program. I want to thank all who have agreed to participate in the symposia by speaking and/or chairing a session. We are particularly fortunate to have Jim Cutler present the Division Lecture this year and give us his unique perspective on Candida albicans.
The Division F symposium program for the 2003 ASM General Meeting is posted on this website to let everyone see this exciting program that covers many areas of our broad field of Medical Mycology. It is my sincere hope that this program will generate a great deal of interest from our own Division members and from members of other ASM Divisions as well. Our speakers are top-notch scientists, willing to provide their historical perspective, personal insights and up-to-date information on our rapidly expanding field. Topics range from clinical mycology, therapeutics, and immunology to genomics and molecular biology. These areas of research are truly intertwined in many ways. I encourage everyone to take this opportunity to learn new things and broaden the potential for avenues of research. I encourage all Division F members to submit abstracts and to attend the General Meeting of ASM in May 2003 in Washington, DC.
For those wondering about our other functions, such as the Division mixer or Division meeting, these are not yet organized. Once I have additional information on the timing of these events, I will post it on this website. In addition, now is the time to be thinking about the program for 2004, so if you have suggestions, thoughts or proposals for that meeting, contact me (clemons@cimr.org) or Chair-Elect Juneann Murphy (juneann-murphy@ouhsc.edu).
I hope everyone is having a productive year and I look forward to seeing you in Washington, DC.
Best regards,
Karl V. Clemons
