Gen-Probe Joseph Public Health Award
The Gen-Probe Joseph Public Health Award honors a distinguished microbiologist who has exhibited exemplary leadership and service in the filed of public health. The recipient will be recognized for significant achievements in integrating the science of microbiology into the practice of public health and for promoting the importance of linking these two disciplines. The recipient will be recognized for a high-level of dedication and commitment to both disciplines.
This award, supported by Gen-Probe, has been established in memory of J. Mehnsen Joseph, Ph.D., who dedicated his life toward the achievement of both microbiology and public health

Nominees must be a microbiologist identified with public health.
Cash prize of $2,000, a commemorative piece, and a $2,000 travel stipend to attend the ASM General Meeting where the lecturer serves as the Division Y (Public Health) Lecturer. Award laureate and nominator are honored guests at the ASM Awards banquet.
ASM awards are granted at the discretion of the award selection committees and may not be awarded every year. The winner will be announced in Microbe.
Nominations must be received by October 1. All nomination materials must be submitted electronically and all nominations will be considered without updating for 3 years. Nomination materials will not be returned and must consist of the following:
-Letter of nomination. Describe the nominees leadership and service in the filed of public health.
-Curriculum vitae. Including a list of the nominees publications.
-Two supporting letters. Letters of support must come from persons, other than the nominator, who are familiar with the nominees qualifications and accomplishments. No more than one of the three letters may be from the nominees institution, nor from the same institution.
