Curriculum Resources
ASM Curriculum Guidelines for Undergraduate Microbiology
Representing a 12-month study by an ASM Task Force, this curriculum aligns with the 2011 Vision and Change in Undergraduate Biology Education: A Call to Action report and identifies the six overarching concepts that ensure a foundational understanding in microbiological topics deemed to be of lasting importance.
Guidelines for Biosafety in Teaching Laboratories ASM needs your help! Guidelines first draft debuted at the 2012 ASM Conference for Undergraduate Educators and ASM General Meeting. The new version is now available for comments. The deadline for comments is October 15th.
K-12 Outreach Activities The collection of activities is meant to illustrate the incorporation of the microbial world in the K-12 community either through science courses or through community-based events and programs. The activities come from classroom teachers and microbiologists. All activities have been reviewed by the ASM Committee on K-12 Outreach for scientific and educational content, active learning and engagement, alignment with the National Science Education Standards, and clarity of accompanying instructions.
