Dr. Hall's research has been key to the discovery and characterization of integrons and gene cassettes, which play an important role in the acquisition of antibiotic resistance genes by gram negative bacteria. Her work involves the characterization of this novel site-specific recombination system that incorporates gene cassettes (carrying antibiotic resistance genes) into the integron.
