• Full Membership ASM welcomes to Full Membership anyone who is interested in its objectives and has a minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in microbiology or a related field.

• Transitional Membership Transitional Membership is available to all who are about to graduate or have graduated from an accredited program within 12 months of the application year.

• Postdoctoral Membership Postdoctoral membership is available to any PhD, DVM, MD or Pharm.D graduate once during their life as long as the application for Postdoctoral Membership is received within four years of graduation from a regularly matriculated program in the microbiological sciences.

• Student Membership Any fully matriculated student, majoring in microbiology or a related field who has not earned a doctoral degree is eligible for Student Membership. Student Members have all of the privileges of Full Membership except the right to vote or hold office in the Society.

• International Membership Approximately 30% of ASM's membership resides outside the United States. International members of ASM are full members of the Society equivalent to members residing in the United States. Depending on your country, you may qualify for discounted ASM membership rates and additional benefits.

If you would like to join the ASM, but would prefer not to join online, please access the below online join link, complete the requested fields, and select "Offline Payment Methods" when you get to your order summary page. A proforma invoice will be produced, which you can then print and send in with your payment.

Members will have access to any “Members Only” sections of the website. You must first register at the estore prior to joining the ASM. Registration can be completed in 4 easy steps.

2. Click “continue” next to “Joining ASM?”
3. Create a user name and password as instructed. (Please record it for future use.)
4. Enter your basic account information as instructed and click “Update.” Your registration is now complete.
