ToranzosUniversity of Puerto Rico, Professor of Biology

Gary A. Toranzos-Soria, a native of Cochabamba, Bolivia earned his Ph.D. at the University of Arizona in 1985 in Environmental Virology.  After a post-doctoral position at the University of Florida, he relocated to the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus where continues to conduct research in environmental microbiology.  He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement in Science and the American Academy of Microbiology.  Toranzos Soria has served the American Society for Microbiology in many capacities such as participating on the Communications Committee and continues record and publish in the Radio El Mundo de los Microbios, part of Microbe World, which is a weekly PodCast in Spanish for the world's Hispanic community of microbiologists.
