GoalsA.    Increase the number of student chapters by 20% in 5 years through improved programming, outreach, and administrative support.       B.  Establish or revive student chapters at Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Hispanic Serving Institutions, and other campuses, including Native American, serving underrepresented student groups.C.  Identify unaffiliated undergraduate institutions with microbiology majors or strong microbiology programs and encourage chapter formation.       D.  Identify geographic areas that could support graduate student chapters with members drawn from several academic institutions. E.  Investigate networking and mentoring opportunities for undergraduates, graduates, and for postdoctoral fellows in the microbiological disciplines. F.  Continue to strengthen Branch support of Student Chapters and provide alternative support mechanisms where Branch support is unavailable.  G.  Encourage increased budget for the ASMBL program to bring distinguished speakers to student chapters.
