2nd ASM Conference on Beneficial Microbes: Beneficial Host-Microbial Interactions

October 12 - 16, 2008, San Diego, California

Conference Scope:

The field of microbial symbiosis has recently taken center stage in biological sciences.  A sophisticated grasp
of the nature of normal animal-bacterial associations is key in understanding what goes wrong when pathogenic
"interlopers" disrupt the dynamics of complex communitites of beneficial bacteria.  The goal of this conference
is to bring together an array of researchers working in a variety of arenas, from ecology to molecular biology,
to develop this frontier field.

Session Topics:
  • Analysis of Diverse Microbial Consortia
  • Ecology, Evolution and Population Genetics of Beneficial Host-Microbe Interactions
  • Physiology and Biochemistry of Beneficial Partnerships
  • The Role of the Microbiota in Normal Immune Function
  • MAMPs, PAMPs and PRRs in Beneficial and Pathogenic Interactions
  • Emerging Systems and Concepts
Principal Organizer:
