The ASM signed on to a Coalition for National Science Funding (CNSF) statement supporting the FY 2015 Commerce, Justice, Science Appropriations bill passed by the Senate Appropriations committee that placed a high priority on basic science funding at the National Science Foundation (NSF), and urged members of the full Senate to support funding levels in the bill. The ASM joined 23 other organizations in signing a letter to the House Energy & Commerce Committee urging them to act promptly on the Antibiotic Development to Advance Patient Treatment (ADAPT) Act, which would carry out the PCAST recommendation to establish a new limited population approval pathway for antibiotics to treat serious or life-threatening infections where an unmet medical need exists.

ASM joined 26 other organizations in signing a letter to the Chairs and Ranking Members of the House and Senate Appropriations Committee on Labor, HHS and Education. The letter urged them to appropriate the $30 million included in the Fiscal Year 2015 President’s Budget Request for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Detect and Protect Against Antibiotic Resistance Initiative.
