Moselio Schaechter Distinguished Service Award

The award is given to honor an ASM member who has shown exemplary leadership and commitment towards the substantial furthering of the profession of microbiology in research, education or technology in the developing world.

Nominations will be considered without updating for three years. $4000 cash prize goes to the winner. Open to members from resource-limited countries only.

Leadership Grant for International Educators

Provides leaders in education with the resources to build innovative teaching modules that engage students and lead to enduring understandings in microbiology!

Supports leaders in education from resource-limited countries with training in the latest developments in scientific pedagogy, and a framework to disseminate this knowledge to their peers.

The grant covers airfare, room, board, and registration for the ASM Conference for Undergraduate Educators (ASMCUE), including a pre-conference workshop.

ASM Indo-US Teaching and Research Professorships

Sponsored by the Indo-US Science & Technology Forum, this prestigious grant seeks to broaden collaboration between India and the US on issues of global concern though research and teaching partnerships.

Fosters scientific exchange between India and the US through a program sponsored by the Indo-US Science and Technology Forum.

Funding is provided for travel and the visit of ONE institution abroad, including administrative costs, and supplies. Funds must be matched by hosting institution.

FEMS-ASM Mäkelä–Cassell Award

Travel to Europe! The American Society for Microbiology invites members to apply for the Mäkelä – Cassell Travel Award for Early Career Scientists to present their research at the FEMS Biannual Congress.

Enables young faculty members to participate in the Federation of European Microbiology Societies Biannual Congress and present their work.

The program covers airfare, room, board, and registration for the FEMS Biannual Congress. US citizens or permanent residents only.

Carlyn Halde Latin American Student Travel Grant

This travel grant, administered in collaboration with the Medical Mycological Society of the Americas (MMSA), supports the travel of a student Medical Microbiologist from Latin America or the Caribbean to participate in ASM General Meeting.

Enables young faculty members to participate in the ASM General Meeting. The program covers airfare and registration for the ASM General Meeting. Open to microbiology students from Latin America, Puerto Rico, or the Caribbean.
