I serve as an advisor to the US government as an immunologist with expertise in biosafety and biosecurity to assist in the design, implementation and review of international public health programs that meet the International Health Regulations disease reporting requirements. My work includes both programmatic design and review and facility construction oversight. I with epidemiologists, veterinarians, medical doctors and medical researchers to develop a “One Health” system for low-resource countries - an approach that looks at ecological, veterinary and public health factors involved in disease outbreaks and attempts to integrate biosafety and biosecurity across the chain of infection in order to prevent disease.
What do you love about your job?
