Ensure the continued, quality operation of the laboratories according to CLIA regulations and CAP guidelines. Continually improve existing testing and develop new testing to ensure optimal patient care. Teach fellows, residents and students about past, current, and future methods in clinical microbiology and their role in the healthcare system.

Tips/Advice for how to secure a job in microbiology upon graduation:
For a job as a clinical microbiology director, get as much clinical exposure as you can, even if your PhD research is focused on a clinically relevant organism. Just working on a pathogen is not enough to prepare you for this career!
