June 8 - 11, 2010 Toronto, Canada Call for Abstracts
The Scientific Committee invites you to submit abstracts for scientific presentations at the 2nd ASM Conference on Antimicrobial Resistance in Zoonotic Bacteria and Foodborne Pathogens in Animals, Humans and the Environment. Abstracts will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee for scientific content, quality, English, and appropriateness. Accepted abstracts will be scheduled for poster presentations at the conference and the Scientific Committee will ask a limited number of authors for oral presentations of 10 to 20 minutes instead of posters. Twenty travel grants of $500 each will be donated by ASM to undergraduate and graduate students. These grants will be allocated on the basis of the quality of submitted abstracts (the student has to be the first and presenting author to be eligible). By submitting an abstract, the authors agree that, if accepted, the paper will be presented as scheduled. It is the responsibility of the submitting author to obtain the agreement of all co-authors on the abstract and to resolve any issue associated with copyrights or with disclosure of patent-related information before submission. When submitting an abstract, please verify that the subject fits the topic of the Conference and one or several of the topical categories listed below. To achieve a better topic fit or scheduling balance for the Conference, the Scientific Committee reserves the right to assign abstracts to a different topic category than the one identified by the author. Abstracts may contain some materials already presented at other conferences, but a substantial part of the material/analyses should be new and not have been presented or published elsewhere. Please follow strictly the formatting instructions described below. Not adhering to these instructions may result in rejection of the abstract. Abstracts are expected to contain materials covering the four following areas:
· Background: Provide the necessary information to explain the objectives of the study and describe the problem(s) and hypotheses addressed. · Materials and Methods: Provide enough information on the approaches, materials, and methods used for the reader to understand what was done. · Results: Provide essential results, numbers, and statistics sufficient for the reviewers to be able to assess the scientific validity of the conclusions. Statements such as ‘results will be provided…’ or ‘evaluation still ongoing…’, and similar wording, are not acceptable. · Discussion and Conclusions: Provide a summary of findings and conclusions which can be drawn from them.
