What's New in International Affairs

Steven Specter, Chair, International Laboratory Capacity Building Committee (Lab Cap) has developed a PowerPoint presentation to provide an overview of the main activities of Lab Cap.

These training materials are designed as a "workshop in a box" that includes all the presentations, exercises, and step by step guidance for convening and conducting a 4-5 day practical laboratory workshop.

ASM Ambassadors are international members of ASM who act as intermediaries between the Society and ASM members in their region to identify and respond to the needs of the local microbiological community.  Ambassadors are currently based in 20 regions around the world, with country liaisons representing individual countries.

Funding opportunities are available to microbiologists in the US and around the world!  ASM’s Grants & Fellowships encourage international collaborations in research and training, as well as provide microbiological expertise and resources to faculty and students throughout the world.  Awards are available to both early career and established scientists.

Since 2005, the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) has been dedicated to strengthening laboratory capacity in resource-poor countries via the International Laboratory Capacity Building (Lab Cap) Program and a Cooperative Agreement with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
