What you should know before you view this form
USA Hosts Destination Services will operate the Washington Tour Program for the 103rd General Meeting.
Advance registration for tours is strongly recommended. Tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served
basis and are subject to cancellation should the minimum number required to operate the tour not be
reached in advance of the meeting. You may purchase tickets for tours using the Washington Tour Form. Tour buses will depart from the Washington Convention Center.
The deadline to purchase tour tickets in advance through USA Hosts Destination Services is May
2, 2003.
After this date, you may purchase tickets on-site at the Washington Convention Center pending availability.
Tour prices include English speaking guides and transportation, admission, and fees as noted in tour
description. All children old enough to occupy their own bus seat must purchase a ticket and be
accompanied by a responsible adult.

Spend time with one of the city’s finest tour guides who will introduce you to the history
and architecture of Washington, DC through its monuments, memorials and federal buildings.
You will see the White House, the Capitol, Supreme Court, Library of Congress, Smithsonian
Institution Complex, the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam and Korean War
Veterans Memorials, the Jefferson Memorial, the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial and other
attractions.

Three beautiful, moving memorials will be visited this day-Arlington National Cemetery, Iwo Jima,
and the FDR Memorial. Arlington National Cemetery memorializes those who have died in the service
of their country. Among the thousands of white headstones are the graves of President John F.
Kennedy, Jacqueline Onassis, Robert Kennedy, the crew of the Space shuttle Challenger, and The
Tomb of the unknown soldier. The tour will then continue to the Marine Corps Memorial to see the
largest bronze statue ever cast - five Marines and a sailor raising the Stars and Stripes over
Mount Suribachi. The tour will conclude with a walk through the new Franklin Delano Roosevelt
Memorial, where the pivotal years of FDR’s presidency are depicted through a series of four
outdoor “galleries,” each devoted to one of his four terms in office, from 1933-45.

George Washington wrote of his beloved Mount Vernon, "No estate is more pleasantly situated than
this." Today participants will enjoy the same breathtaking view across the Potomac River that
enamored Washington all those years ago. You can pay your respects at the tomb of George and
Martha Washington. The tour will then continue into Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. The riding
tour will include passing by Christ Church, Leadbetter Apothecary, and the Carlyle House. While
in Old Town some free time will be included to window shop.

Washington, DC has been the scene of international intrigue, espionage, and intelligence activity,
as the US government has tried to learn the plans of other countries while keeping its own plans
secret. Key players include personalities as diverse as Rose Greenhow, Herbert Yardley, Major
General “Wild Bill” Donovan, Alger Hiss, and Aldrich Ames. Guests will visit Washington’s newest
museum exploring the craft, practice, history and contemporary role of espionage in Washington, DC.
The museum is the first public museum in the U.S. solely dedicated to espionage and its global
perspective on the profession, and features the largest collection of international espionage
artifacts ever placed on public display.

The tour will pass by locations that were prominent in the
Washington life of Mrs. Onassis, such as the White House, the
National Museum of American History, and the Kennedy’s former home
in Georgetown. In addition, the tour includes a the Arlington
National Cemetery with a visit to the gravesites of the Kennedy family.
