What We Do

ASM is proactive in achieving our policy principles and goals. We engage with policymakers on issues of importance to the microbiology community. We respond to requests from agencies on support of ASM’s research-focused and clinical interests. We host educational events for policymakers and their staff.   • ASM co-hosted a Congressional Briefing on AMR with Research!America and Partners.
  • ASM issued a response to the OSTP Joint Committee on the Research Environment (JCORE) Request for Information (RFI).
  • ASM joined members of the Clinical Laboratory Coalition (CLC) in a letter to congressional leadership urging action on H.R. 3584, The Laboratory Access for Beneficiaries (LAB) Act.
  • ASM CEO Stefano Bertuzzi and Secretary Tim Donohue attended the White House Bioeconomy Summit.
