ASM Attends White House Bioeconomy Summit
On October 7, Stefano Bertuzzi and ASM Secretary Tim Donohue attended the White House Bioeconomy Summit, hosted by the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP). The event was organized by OSTP Director Kelvin Droegemeier and his staff in response to the identification of the bioeconomy as a strategic research and development priority for the Administration. A request for information (RFI) was issued to seek public input on the bioeconomy by OSTP in September.
In addition to attending the Summit, ASM submitted formal comments in response to the RFI that highlighted opportunities and challenges in the microbial sciences to growing a vibrant bioeconomy. To see ASM's comments in their entirety, click here.
