ASM Statement on COVID-19 and 2020 Meetings

Updated March 19, 2020

At ASM, we recognize that the quickly evolving COVID19 situation - including school closures, institutional travel restrictions, remote work policies, and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s recent recommendation against holding gatherings with 50 or more people for the next eight weeks - is having a significant impact on everyone, including making decisions around travel and meeting attendance.

ASMCUE is currently planned for July, and because it falls beyond CDC’s eight-week window, ASM is exploring all options.

We know many of you are trying to make plans and that things are uncertain, especially given travel restrictions from your institutions, the challenges at home posed by school closures and other social distancing measures, and the fluid nature of the situation. We want to help as much as we can by being as flexible as possible.

To this end, we are extending Early Bird Registration for ASMCUE through May 15, 2020, and we are waiving all registration cancellation fees through June 9, 2020. In addition, if a registrant needs to cancel, refunds for registration will be returned in full beginning 30 days after the meeting dates.

In the meantime, please refer to the COVID-19 resource page on asm.org and follow ASM’s social media channels (FacebookTwitter and Instagram) for the most up-to-date information about the virus, the disease it causes and any impact on ASM gatherings. We will also notify all meeting participants through email if direct communication as needed. Additionally, the City of Bellevue is also posting information about visitor health and wellness.
