The American Society for Microbiology Wins 2019 Gold Circle Award for Best Website from ASAE

May 14, 2019

Washington, DC – May 14, 2019 — The American Society for Microbiology (ASM) has been awarded the 2019 Gold Circle Award for best website/app by ASAE. The Gold Circle Awards competition is the premier association marketing, membership and communications award that recognizes excellence, innovation, and achievement in association/nonprofit marketing, membership and communications programs.

ASM’s new website features SEO-friendly tags, organized content, smart search, and commissioned, original artwork. The new design executes ASM’s vision for a fresh, clean look that celebrates microbiology and stays true to the ASM brand.

“Content strategy—the creation, planning and dissemination of content—is at the heart of ASM’s digital approach. To execute a content strategy for an association with so many established content streams (journals, existing blogs) takes thoughtful planning, extensive research, and collaboration.” said Courtney Reyers, Senior Manager, Digital Media, ASM. “Our goal was to launch a site where modern, clean design and user experience were the core elements,” she said.

“The Gold Circle Awards is an opportunity for the community to recognize the important role marketing, membership and communications play in associations, said ASAE President and CEO John H. Graham IV, FASAE, CAE. “Congratulations to winning organizations. You have shown that combining creativity, design, technology, and metrics leads to campaigns with lasting impact.”

Entries for the Gold Circle Awards competition are judged consistently in each category based on criteria established by the ASAE Gold Circle Award Committee for excellence in association marketing, membership and communications programs.

This year’s competition received a record- breaking number of 200 entries across 15 categories. “We were thrilled to receive a record number of applications this year. The creativity and achievements of the winning entries was superb. We look forward to celebrating all 15 award winners at the 2019 ASAE Marketing, Membership & Communications Conference June 6-7, where we will also announce the recipient of the Overall Excellence Award,” said Alan Rickard, CAE, President of Association Vision and chair of the Gold Circle Awards Committee.
