Alam Munirul

Dr. Munirul Alam is a Senior Scientist & Enteric Infection Lead (IDD), and Head of Molecular Ecology and Metagenomics Laboratory, icddr,b (International Center for Diarrheal Disease Research, Bangladesh). Dr. Alam’s research interests include molecular epidemiology and ecology of cholera, drug resistance, microbial forensics (genomics & metagenomics), microbiota and health, and hospital based WASH intervention (CHoBI7). He started his academic career as a Faculty (1991) and was an Associate Professor of the Department of Microbiology, Dhaka University. He served as post-Doctoral fellow (USA, Japan, and Germany), and attended more than 100 scientific conferences as oral, invited, and keynote speaker; and served as Chair and co-Chair of scientific sessions. He supervised many research students of MS, M.Phil, and PhD, and authored more than 120 peer reviewed research articles. He has been a Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology, a Professor (Adj.) of North South University, a Senior Associate (Faculty) of Johns Hopkins University, and a Visiting Fellow of the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). He has been a member of the committee for science need for microbial forensics, and an Editor of many journals. Dr. Alam served as the President of the Graduate Microbiologists Association of Bangladesh..
