Solnick Jay 250

Jay Solnick is a Professor in the Departments of Medicine and Microbiology & Immunology at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine. As a physician-scientist, he sees patients with complex infectious diseases in the clinic and in the hospital, directs a research laboratory, and teaches microbiology to both undergraduates, graduate students, and medical students. His laboratory studies the biology of the gastric pathogen, Helicobacter pylori, using mouse and non-human primate models. The current emphasis in the laboratory (http:,,ccm.ucdavis.edu,faculty,solnick,) is to better understand polymorphism and genetic diversity of outer membrane proteins, several of which have been identified as adhesins, and to characterize functional plasticity in the H. pylori type IV secretion system.
