David Andes

Andes David 250

David Andes is a Professor in the Department of Medicine and Medical Microbiology and Immunology, and Head of Infectious Diseases at the University of Wisconsin. As a physician-scientist, he sees patients with complex infectious diseases, directs a research laboratory, and teaches microbiology to undergraduates, graduate students, and medical students. His research program is multidisciplinary and strives to identify strategies to combat antimicrobial resistance. His study tactics span from the bench to the clinic, including defining the molecular basis for drug resistance, pharmacodynamic investigation of anti-infectives, and clinical study of resistance epidemiology. Observations from the Andes lab provide much of the scientific underpinning of antifungal drug choice and dosing, definitions of clinical resistance, and the mechanisms of resistance and management of fungal biofilm infections.
