Rob Edwards

Edwards Rob 250

Rob has developed numerous bioinformatics tools and approaches to understanding microbial genomes and metagenomes, and has applied those tools himself to further our understanding of the microbial world. He has been involved in a number of key metagenomics studies, including the first use of next generation sequencing for metagenomics, the first cross-environment analysis of metagenomes, and developing websites to help others analyze their data. Rob co-discovered the crAssphage virus that is present in ~50% of people and is globally distributed. He continues to develop high-performance computing resources for researchers and to use those tools to analyze phages and their interactions with Bacteria.
