Communications and Social Media Coordinator (Full-Time Position)

The American Society for Microbiology (ASM) is looking for a full-time rock-star communications and social media coordinator. Based in Washington, DC, ASM is part of one of science's most exciting fields.  The Coordinator will be part of a team in ASM’s award-winning Marketing and Communications department. Responsibilities include but not limited to:  serving as communication account coordinator for the society’s key departments, and management of ASM's social media channels and functions. Incumbent will also be responsible for monitoring various campaign activities and use data/ findings to modify and inform future plans and actions.

  • Bachelor's level marketing or communication degree or equivalent experience required
  • 4+ years of experience in similar role
  • Social media expert {deep knowledge of all social media channels)
  • Excellent consulting, writing, editing(photo/video/copy), presentation and communication skills
  • Strong working knowledge of social media tools (Social Studio, Hootsuite, etc)
  • Familiarity with analytics tools and reporting (Facebook insights, Google analytics, etc)
  • Proficient with MS Office, basic graphic design knowledge and HTML preferred
  • Strong written and oral communication, meeting facilitation and collaboration skills
  • Team player: positive attitude, detail and customer oriented with good multitasking and organizational skills
  • Experience in a scientific organization or an association setting preferred
  • Ability to travel occasionally
