Customer Service Representative-Full-Time

The American Society for Microbiology (ASM), headquartered in Washington, DC, is seeking a full-time Customer Service Representative in the Membership department.  The incumbent will be responsible for providing prompt and efficient service to all members and customers who contact the unit.  Duties include but are not limited to:  responding to member inquiries, processing applications, updating membership records, researching complex claims as directed by supervisor, and maintaining files.  Incumbent will also promote ASM membership at meetings and events.


•    4-year college degree required
•    2-3 years member service and data entry experience
•    Reliable with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
•    Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•    Quick and responsive
•    Ability to meet deadlines
•    Proofing and editing experience
•    Database management experience, netFORUM preferred
•    Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel
•    Travel required (up to 5%)
