Content Specialist

The American Society for Microbiology (ASM) is looking for a whip-smart, dynamic and organized candidate who has a passion for great content, strong writing and clean UX. ASM’s communications and marketing team is fast-paced, creative and forward-thinking and works to ensure that our users are engaged and informed across all digital platforms.  Responsibilities include but not limited to: web content creation, web strategy execution, editorial and project management.

Qualifications
•    Four-year degree in English, journalism, marketing, UX or digital strategy
•    2+ years’ experience in UX design, content strategy, website management, editing/writing
•    Microsoft Office package (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) software knowledge required
•    Strong working knowledge of analytics (Google Analytics preferred)
•    Working knowledge of social media and email best practices, user testing and user mapping
•    Strategic, big-picture thinker and creative problem-solving skills
•    Strong understanding of SEO, metadata and keywords
•    Highly organized, detail-oriented work style
•    Strong grasp of content strategy and content marketing
•    Familiarity with CMS management, web posting, html/5, and CSS
•    Familiarity with various editorial styles, bonus for AP style
•    Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Balsamiq, Axure and card sorting software
•    Occasional travel
