Proposal Submission Deadline: August 3, 2018

ASM Microbe brings together exceptional education into one creative learning environment, and there are two opportunities for you to participate in the planning of next year's program.

  1. Submit a scientific session proposal for the following session types: 
    1. Plenary: Plenary sessions are interdisciplinary in nature, and should thread or connect ideas from multiple presentations. In most cases, a plenary session should relate to more than one programming track. (2 hours, 1 or 2 moderators, 4 invited speakers)
    2. Symposia: Symposia address an important problem and/or gap in knowledge on a particular subject, with a diversity of knowledge and/or points of view presented by experts. Appropriate oral abstract presentations (selected from accepted abstracts) are included in the session. (2.5 hours, 1 or 2 moderators, 3 invited speakers)
    3. Meet-the-Experts: Two experts address an important problem and/or gap in knowledge on a particular subject in short, 15-minute presentations, allowing 30 minutes for audience interaction with the experts following the talks. (1 hour, 2 speakers)
    4. Track Hub: Short, highly interactive session on a track-specific topic held in informal, open space hubs on the exhibit hall floor. (45 minutes, 1 speaker)
  2. Submit a course or workshop proposal.
    1. Course: Offered prior to the official start of the meeting for an additional fee, a course features a series of instructors that cover a selection of related subjects, typically presented in lecture format. Some small group discussions and question/answer periods may be included. (Half-day or full day, up to 5 presenters)
    2. Workshop: Offered prior to the official start of the meeting for an additional fee, a workshop is a fully interactive learning and/or training experience that takes a deeper dive on a particular subject, software or specialized equipment. A workshop may also cover career development topics, such as grant writing. (Half-day or full day, up to 5 presenters)

Once proposal submissions close, all proposals will be shared and reviewed by the Program Committee. The scientific organizers will meet in late-August 2018 and at that time will select session proposals for acceptance. Notification of the status of your proposal will be sent no later than September 30, 2018.
