CBS News interviewed ASM Public Outreach Manager Katherine Lontok, Genspace Executive Director Dan Grushkin and Tarah Rhoda of the School of Visual Arts in New York, N.Y., about using agar art as a tool to engage the public with microbes in a positive way. They discussed ASM’s Agar Art contest and its goals and how Genspace got involved as a community lab partner by offering workshops where people with no microbiology experience could come to create agar art.
