Coalition Letter on FY 2018 Funding for NSF

The ASM signed onto a letter, as a member of the Coalition on National Science Funding (CNSF), to Congress urging them to maintain federal investments in America’s scientific and innovation enterprise.

ASM sent a letter to members of the House and Senate Appropriations Subcommittees on Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies regarding funding for the National Science Foundation. The ASM asked Congress to reject the President’s proposed 11.2 percent cut and instead fund the NSF at $8 billion for the FY 2018, about 4 percent above the FY 2016 enacted level.

The ASM sent a letter to members of the Senate and House Appropriations Subcommittees on Energy and Water Development on FY 2018 funding for the DOE’s Office of Science asking Congress to reject the 16.4 percent reduction proposed in the President’s budget for DOE life science research.

The ASM sent a letter to members of the House and Senate Appropriations Subcommittees on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies opposing the devastating cuts proposed by the Administration for the  FY 2018 budget for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. 

The ASM sent a letter to members of the House and Senate Appropriations Subcommittees on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies opposing the severe cuts proposed by the Administration for the FY 2018 budget  for the National Institutes of Health. 

The ASM sent a letter to Congress regarding issues related to the establishment of an Emergency Response Fund.

The ASM signed onto a letter as a member of the Informal Coalition on Biodefense and Public Health Preparedness  urging increased funding in FY 2018 for programs that support emergency preparedness.

The ASM signed onto a coalition letter to Congressional leadership urging support for scientific research as they begin work on the FY 2018 appropriations.
