Shilpa Gadwal has been with ASM since March 2015 in her role as a Career Advancement Fellow. She took her passion of career development in trainees and created an online  hub for ASM’s career resources and articles. She received her B.S in the Biological Sciences from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

Redefined by Academia and Parenthood

Parent Hand Baby Feet Career LPWe share insights from someone who was a mom and transitioning out of academia. She shares her story on how she found her career passion and what being a mom while pursuing her career goals was like. She hopes her story can inspire others to redefine their own identities and to share their experiences towards increasing transparency about academia and parenthood.

MTS Career LPASM was at the 2018 USA Science and Engineering Festival (USASEF) to capitalize on the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) buzz and raise awareness of the microbial sciences. Our volunteers were at the ASM exhibit booth, workshops and career sessions. We talk about the activities at the booth and how you can do science outreach.
