The 2018 ASM Biothreats meeting features five tracks:

  • High Consequence Pathogen Research
    Track Leader: Jason Huntley, Ph.D.

The High Consequence Pathogen Research track will feature the latest research on pathogens–the disease-causing opportunistic microbes–of greatest risk to global health security.

  • Product Development
    Track Leader: David Noll, Ph.D.

Many private industry companies and organizations have ongoing programs that are developing new technologies toward countering especially dangerous pathogens. The Product Development track will highlight those advances.

  • Policy
    Track Leader: Diane DiEuliis, Ph.D.

ASM Biothreats is where science meets policy and policy meets science. The Policy track features sessions that focus on emerging policy issues surrounding dual use research, bioethics, global frameworks, and the new Administration’s strategy for countering biological threats.

  • Biological Threat Reduction
    Co-Track Leader: Lance Brooks
    Co-Track Leader: Peter Emanuel, Ph.D.

What are the current and planned efforts of the U.S. federal agencies to prevent, detect and respond to biological threats world wide? The Biological Threat Reduction track will take a look at the measures being taken.

  • Student/Early Career
    Co-Track Leader: Erin Sorrell, Ph.D.
    Co-Track Leader: Claire Standley, Ph.D.

The Student/Early Career track is designed to serve as a platform for early career researchers to present, network, and engage industry and policy counterparts.
