**Guest registrations are non-refundable, and must be purchased in conjunction with a scientific registration, and do not permit entrance to scientific sessions.

Member Rates

To be eligible for member rates, ASM membership numbers that are current for 2018 must be included when registering. Membership numbers are verified by the registration company. ASM reserves the right to charge the higher non-member rate without notification if a member number is not included or cannot be verified. Student & Postdoc Rates 

Non-member registrants requesting student or postdoc fees must provide either a legible photocopy of a current University ID or a letter on University letterhead from the department chair, indicating your status and anticipated graduation date. Only undergraduate through postdoctoral students are eligible for the student rate. Documentation must be sent by Thursday, January 24, 2018.


Guests may not attend scientific sessions but will have access to exhibits, posters, and the reception during the the meeting.

*Checks/Money Orders must be made payable to ASM (American Society for Microbiology). When paying with a check or money order, attendees must first complete the online registration indicating that they are paying with a check/money order. Once complete, attendees must print the online registration invoice, attach payment and mail by Tuesday, January 23. Checks received without registration documents will be returned for correct processing.

Registration Confirmation/Receipt

Within five business days after receipt of payment, attendees will receive an official Biothreats confirmation via email. This will also serve as your receipt. Consider printing the email receipt/message for your file. You are not considered a Biothreats registrant until full payment is processed and you have received the official Biothreats confirmation via email.
Please be aware that automatically generated emails and/or email confirmations sent in bulk may be identified as unsolicited mail by email providers and placed into bulk or junk mail folders. If you do not receive the automatically generated email or the official Biothreats confirmation within five business days after submitting payment, check for a blocked message or the message in a bulk or junk mail folders.
After five business days, please email customer service or call 1-866-229-2386 from 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. EST to request a copy of your confirmation.

On-Site Registration

All registered attendees must stop by the registration counter to receive your meeting badge and other registration materials. No materials will be mailed prior to the conference. The registration counter will be open during the following times:

Tuesday, February 13
6:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. 

Wednesday, February 14 
6:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. 

Badge Policies and Allocations

Badges will only be issued to the attendee of record upon presentation of government-issued photo identification, such as a driver's license or passport. All Biothreat meeting attendees are required to wear conference badges on-site at all times. Badges give you access to the welcome reception, all scientific sessions, Exhibit and Poster Hall. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have your badge at all times.

  • Members of the press must register for the meeting and pay the appropriate registration fee to receive continuing education credit

Exhibitor Full Conference Badges

  •  Entrance into the Exhibit Hall during move-in and move-out 
  •  Access to the Exhibit Hall 30 minutes prior to the opening of exhibits
  •  Attendees wearing exhibitor booth personnel badges will be allowed admittance into scientific sessions

Exhibitor Booth Personnel Badges

  • Attendees wearing exhibitor booth personnel badges will NOT be allowed admittance into scientific sessions or the dinner session. 
  • Will allow for Exhibit Hall access during “open” hours only

Exhibitor Hall Only Badges
  •  Access to the Exhibit Hall ONLY
  • Attendees wearing exhibitor booth personnel badges will NOT be allowed admittance into scientific sessions or the dinner session. 

Registration Policies

Cancellation & Substitution Policy

Cancellation and change requests must be received on or before Thursday, February 1, 2018 to qualify for a refund less a $50 cancellation processing fee. No refunds will be issued for cancellation and changes received after Thursday, February 1, 2018. Refunds will be processed based on the original form of payment within 60 days of the close of the meeting. No-shows will be charged the full registration fee. Registrations are not transferable.

Substitution of registrations is permitted prior to the conference and onsite. Only one substitution is permitted per original registrant. The individual submitting the substitution request is responsible for all financial obligations (any balance due) associated with that substitution as well as updating any contact information.

Discount vs. Regular Registration

Discount conference rate is ONLY applied to registration forms completed and paid in full by Thursday, January 18, 2018. Payments received after this date, or registration forms with a "balance due", will be assessed the on-site registration rate.

Permission to Use Photo Policy 

By registering for Biothreats, attendees hereby agree to allow ASM/Biothreat to use any photos taken of them during the conference in news media, website, publications, articles, marketing pieces, etc.

Policies Regarding Children at ASM Biothreats 

Infants and Children under the age of 18 are not allowed into the Exhibit or Poster Hall during setup and teardown to ensure the safety of registrants’ children.  During scheduled show hours, parents or guardians must complete and sign a Minor Release Form to allow children access to the halls.  Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult or guardian at all times. Minor Release Forms will be available at the On-Site Registration counter. Your support and compliance are greatly appreciated.

Contact Information Release

The generous support provided by exhibitors is significant to the success of 2018 ASM Biothreats. The exhibiting company’s goal in participating at 2018 ASM Biothreats is to interact with the attendee and to provide the most current information on their products and services. Attendees mailing address will now be made available to the exhibitors who wish to send information. This list will only contain name, full address, and affiliation (if provided). No phone numbers, fax numbers or email addresses will be included.

Registration Allocations

Each 8' x 10' exhibit space includes two (2) Exhibitor Full Conference badges, which allows admittance to the the Exhibit and Poster Hall and scientific sessions and two (2) complimentary Exhibit Hall only badges to invite customers/clients. Additional badges for purchase include:

  • Exhibitor Booth Personnel
    • $100 fee
    • Access to Exhibit Hall Only during "open" hours
  • Exhibitor Full Conference Attendee – Member
    • $585 fee
    • Access to Exhibit and poster Hall and scientific sessions
  • Exhibitor Full Conference Attendee – Non-Member
    • $790 fee
    • Access to Exhibit and Poster Hall and scientific sessions

Exhibitors may pre-register for badges via exhibitor registration online. Badges will be available for pickup during attendee registration hours. 

Important Deadlines

  • November 28, 2017: Exhibit registration opens
  • January 22, 2018: Hotel reservation cut-off date (Discounted rate no longer applies)
  • February 1, 2018: Deadline to receive a full refund, minus a $50 processing fee for paid Exhibitor Full Conference badges (No refunds after this date)
  • February 14, 2018: Online registration closes

Cancellation Policy

Organizations participating in exhibition may cancel the lease of exhibit space reserved at any time with written notice to ASM Exhibits Management via postal mail or email. The following schedule will be used when acknowledging the cancellation:

  • Exhibitor Full Conference badge cancellations must be submitted in writing and postmarked on or before February 1, 2018, to qualify for a refund less a $50 processing fee. No refunds will be issued for cancellations/changes after this date.
  • Exhibitor Booth Personnel bdge cancellations must be submitted in writing and postmarked on or before February 1, 2018, to qualify for a full refund. No refunds will be issued for cancellations/changes after this date.
