Culture of Responsibility

There are many definitions of a "culture of responsibility." The ASM workshop was based on the principle that scientific research is for the benefit of the public. As such, scientists must maintain a culture that promotes awareness and thoughtful consideration of the potential consequences, good or bad, of their work.

Scientists have a responsibility to protect the public and must therefore hold themselves accountable to conduct research with mindfulness, transparency, and integrity. This workshop aims to promote a culture of responsibility by educating scientists on elements of biological safety, biosecurity, and the responsible conduct of research.
