Assistant Director, International Affairs (Full-Time Position)

The American Society for Microbiology (ASM) is looking for a full-time Assistant Director for International Affairs.  Based in Washington, DC, ASM is part of one of science’s most exciting fields. The Assistant Director, International Affairs is responsible for the overall leadership and supervision of international development programs and related business development with reference to federal, non-federal, public and private funding opportunities. ASM's International Affairs team implements grants from government and NGO sources to improve public health and safety in resource constrained countries through antimicrobial resistance (AMR) monitoring and reporting; laboratory capacity building; and other public health functions that are supported by the microbial sciences. To support global health and further ASM’s mission, the Assistant Director will sustain and enhance funding as well as identify innovative and new funding opportunities to ensure resources for international programs. She/he will manage a direct team of 13 and have operational and budgetary responsibility.

Logistics Assistant (Full-Time Position)

The American Society for Microbiology (ASM), headquartered in Washington DC, is seeking a Logistics Assistant in the Meetings & Exhibits Department. Incumbent would be responsible for supporting the logistics team with pre-planning for society’s city-wide annual meetings and conferences.   Responsibilities to include: Communicating with service partners to coordinate meeting logistics, compiling signage needs, creating internal billing, and producing master schedule.  Incumbent will provide overall logistical support onsite at meetings, as needed.  Preference will be given to an incumbent seeking a career in the meetings industry.  Incumbent will support Logistics Manager and Coordinator, plus special projects for Meetings Director and Assistant Director.
