Dr. Masayori Inouye has been in the forefront of many areas of microbiology and biochemistry for the last 40 years, including his earlier works on the genetic codes using T4 phage lysozyme, biogenesis of the outer membrane lipoprotein, protein secretion and signal peptides, bacterial reverse transcriptases, msDNA, histidine kinases, transmembrane signal transduction, antisense RNA regulation, intra-molecular chaperone for protein folding to more recent works on bacterial toxin-antitoxin systems, discovery of mRNA interferases (sequence-specific endoribonucleases) and the Single Protein Production (SPP) System.
