TARGET AUDIENCE

This activity is intended for physicians, leaders in academia, industry, and regulatory agencies.

STATEMENT OF NEED

This conference is designed to provide a comprehensive strategy to address the challenges that accompany the rising threat of antimicrobial resistance and to design and implementation reforms that facilitate research and development of new antimicrobial agents.

EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITY LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this course, the participants should be able to:

  • Evaluate new regulations and clinical trial designs for accelerated drug development of new antimicrobial agents
  • Assess the current issues and challenges of antimicrobial resistance
  • Discuss the impact of clinical microbiology and pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic issues for a development program of antimicrobial agents
  • Evaluate the potential modes to overcome membrane barriers of Gram-negative bacteria
