Country Ambassadors are senior scientists that represent ASM in their home country, facilitating partnership and exchange with other scientists worldwide. There are currently 86 ASM Country Ambassadors.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key institutions and organizations in the region
  • Identify and respond to the needs of the local microbiological community
  • Promote and explain the benefits of membership in ASM

Eligibility

  • Have current ASM membership
  • Have demonstrated leadership in their scientific or academic community

Application Process

  • Applications should be submitted to ASM International Affairs via the International Online Applications website, https://intlgrants.asm.org
  • Applications must include: curriculum vitae; ASM Member Number; ASM and non-ASM meetings regularly attended; area of scientific interest; membership in national, regional, and international scientific societies; a cover letter explaining the member's interest in becoming a Country Ambassador and highlighting relevant skills, education, or experience; and an action plan with their proposed activities in the Country Ambassador role
  • Country Ambassadors are elected for an initial 3-year term followed by a formal review and opportunity to extend for one additional term
