11th International Symposium on Microbial Ecology

August 20 - 25, 2006, Vienna, Austria

The Vienna symposium featured a very exciting program on the parallel advances we are currently witnessing in many research areas, including metagenomics, community structure function analyses, culturing of the previously uncultured, whole genome sequencing and a much enhanced understanding of the physiology of a range of ecologically relevant bacteria, and the deciphering of complex communal microbial lifestyles. 

3rd International Minicourse sponsored by ASM's Caribbean Basin Research and Training Network on Infectious Diseases

September 4 - 15, 2006, Caracas, Venezuela

The ASM's Caribbean Basin Research and Training Network on Infectious Diseases program held its third International Minicourse: Host-Parasite Interactions and Vector Biology: A Basic Course.  This event was funded by a generous grant from the Ellison Medical Foundation.

This meeting will bring together policy makers, national public health and financial authorities, pediatric and infectious disease societies, scientists, researchers, bilateral and multilateral agencies, and other partners involved in supporting immunization programs in the Americas.
