The ASM signed onto a letter to Congress that expressed concern about the impact of Administration regulations and legislative initiatives related to government travel on the science and engineering enterprise and the pace of innovation.

The ASM submitted a letter to the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs as part of the hearing record for its January 14 hearing entitled  “Examining Conference and Travel Spending Across the Federal Government.”

The ASM signed onto letters to the House and Senate regarding the government travel restriction amendments included in the "21st Century Postal Service Act" and the Digital Accountability and Transparency Act." 
 
May 17, 2012 - ASM Sends Letter to Congress on Government Scientist Travel Restriction Amendments
The ASM sent a letter to members of Congress regarding the government travel restriction amendments included in the "21st Century Postal Service Act" and the Digital Accountability and Transparency Act."  If passed, the law would limit the ability of scientists from federal agencies to attend scientific meetings and conferences.
