ASM Joins Clinical Laboratory Coalition PAMA Call

On July 26, ASM joined the Clinical Laboratory Coalition (CLC) in a conference call to update members on current strategies to reverse the detrimental effects of the Protecting Access to Medicare Act of 2014 (PAMA) legislation, which will reduce laboratory test reimbursement. As we have reported before, ASM has worked with the CLC to devise strategies to address the possible effects of a second round of PAMA-associated cuts on clinical microbiology laboratories. In addition to ASM, CLC members include the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC), the American Clinical Laboratory Association (ACLA), the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS), the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), the Clinical Laboratory Management Association (CLMA), the College of American Pathologists (CAP), the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI), the Point of Care Testing Association (POCTA), as well as other laboratory associations.
