Engaging University Students

Moses Vurayai-Botswana

The ASM Young Ambassador to Botswana, Moses Vurayai, represented ASM during a scientific mini-conference at the University of Botswana in the capital city of Gaborone. The goal of the conference was to convey to students and educators the importance of quality research and publishing in order to employ evidence-based decision-making when planning to address science and technology challenges such as climate change, emerging and re-emerging diseases, and food security. The conference encouraged these students to view their research experiences as an opportunity to explore novel research and enhance knowledge vital to solving current problems affecting populations on a national and international level.  The conference provided a platform for brief introductions to ASM and articulated the many ways ASM continues to engage with Botswana to strengthen science globally.
